Frequently Asked Questions

When will my order arrive?

Welcome to the Muu family! Our warehouse works diligently to fulfill most orders within 24-48 hours of purchase. We occasionally see a delay over holidays and weekends, but in most cases, you will receive notice of your order leaving our warehouse within 1-2 days of purchase!

I’ve received my Muu pump; now what?

Upon receiving your new Muu pump, we recommend thoroughly washing and/ or sanitizing both pumps and lids. You can handwash your pumps with warm water, dish soap and a soft dish brush, or insert them open side-down into a dishwater.

Once washed and dry, you’re ready to pump!

1.)   Fold back cone & squeeze bulb

2.)   Center opening around nipple

3.)   Unfold cone around breast

4.)   Release and let the suction get to work

We have a visual guide at our How to Muuve tab on our website for more.

Can I pump exclusively with the Muu pump?

The Muu pump is not meant to replace your hospital-grade breast pump. However, we are proud to be able to offer a wearable pump that is more affordable, so more moms have the option to pump anytime, anywhere.

Manual pumps haven’t worked for me in the past, will the Muu pump work for me?

As much as we’d love for you to give us a try, if you’ve only found pumping success with hospital-grade or motorized breast pumps, we may not be as effective for you. ☹

How do I adjust suction strength?

For maximum suction, make sure to squeeze the bulb as much as possible before attaching to your breast. For less suction, squeeze less!

Do I need to wear a nursing bra with my Muu pumps?

No! While nursing bras sure do make it easier, our pumps are designed to fit comfortably under a variety of bra styles. We do recommend loosening your straps and bra band to ensure the bra is not too tight against your pumps.

Do I need to wear a bra at all?

Many of our users pump and muuve without a bra at all! Our recommendation is to reinforce the pumps with a comfortable bra, especially as pumps reach capacity; but you do you, mama!

How discreet is it, really?

The Muu pumps are nearly undetectable under most medium-weight clothing and outerwear, and with no motor, we are totally silent!

Can I drive while pumping with my Muu pumps?

While our pumps do offer better range of motion while pumping, we highly recommend only pumping in the car while riding as a passenger or while pulled over at a complete stop to avoid any distractions.

How long should I wear the Muu pumps?

While every body is different, we suggest between 15-25 minutes per pumping session. Some users fill their pumps in less time, and others have worn their pumps for much longer without discomfort.

How long does breastmilk last?

According to the CDC’s breastmilk handling guidelines, freshly pumped milk can be stored:

·      At room temperature (77°F or colder) for up to 4 hours.

·      In the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

·      In the freezer for about 6 months is best; up to 12 months is acceptable. Although freezing keeps food safe almost indefinitely, recommended storage times are important to follow for best quality.

How should I warm breastmilk?

·      Breast milk does not need to be warmed. It can be served room temperature or cold.

·      If you decide to warm the breast milk, here are some tips from the CDC:

o   Keep the container sealed.

o   Place the sealed container into a bowl of warm water or hold it under warm, but not hot, running water for a few minutes.

o   Test the milk’s temperature before feeding it to your baby by putting a few drops on your wrist.

o   While we are microwave safe, we do not recommend heating breast milk in the microwave or stove. Microwaving can destroy nutrients in breast milk and create hot spots, which can burn a baby’s mouth. Some microwaves may be used to sterilize your pumps.

o   Swirl the breast milk to mix the fat, which may have separated.

o   If your baby did not finish the bottle, use the leftover milk within 2 hours after the baby is finished feeding. After 2 hours, leftover breast milk should be discarded.

o   Once breast milk is brought to room temperature or warmed, use it within 2 hours.

o   Never refreeze breast milk after it has thawed.

How do I clean the harder-to-reach areas of the pumps?

Use any a small-medium soft dish brush with soap and warm water to get inside the hard-to-reach areas, like the back of the bulb. Otherwise, you may wash these parts in the top rack of the dishwasher.

Are certain kinds of soap more effective in cleaning breast pump parts?

You can use any soap intended for washing dishes to clean pump parts, including dishwasher soap if you are using a dishwasher. Do not use antibacterial soap as it can contain additives and chemicals that may not be safe for regular, daily use to wash breast pumps.

I lost one! Is there a way to only buy one pump?

Currently, we are only offer our pumps as a set.

I’m visiting your website from outside the U.S.! When will international shipping be available?
